If I had to sum up my total experience, I would say incredible! The place is decorated with fun pictures making the atmosphere very welcoming. The food was amazing with homemade sides like baked beans, cole slaw and potato salad. Sarah

We used Smokin' Joe's as our caterer/reception decorators for our wedding reception, and they did a fabulous job. I cannot speak highly enough of what they did. We had several meetings with the main event coordinator, so that by the time of our event she knew exactly what we wanted and who we were as a couple. The reception venue looked stunning and the food was great -- down-to-earth food but still classy and delicious! They did everything they could to help us stay within our budget -- even pitched in decorations and linens that they already owned at no additional cost -- the rest we either provided ourselves or paid the amount it cost her to rent. They really did a great job and it was evident that they take pride in their work and in meeting/exceeding customer expectations. And the cost was very reasonable given what we got in return. Would hire again!
The Absolute Best Smoked Food on the east coast!! I'm from D.C. and I ventured into Smokin Joes about 6 years ago. I wanted some smoked wings. I almost bit my fingers off. I've been ordering them since. I've dropped off racks of ribs and chicken. I have used them for my Super Bowl party for the last 5 years. I had a turkey smoked and cajuned a couple of years ago and my family is still raving about that! I also have used their catoring service 2 times, feeding about 100 people each time. Their customer service and professionalism is un-matched! Ashley and the team ROCKS!!!

I used Smokin Joe's BBQ and Catering for my Family Reunion in Newport News in August 2011 and it was wonderful. I live in Maryland, so when I found Smokin Joe's on-line, I was going on blind faith. When I called to get information, I spoke with Ashley Moss and she was amazing and extremely helpful. Of course I made a special trip to Newport News before the Reunion to taste the food and we were blown away on how delicious the food was. The day of the event, we had a great youg lady to set up everything and she was on-time, the food was hot and the decorations were perfect. We were on a budget, so Ashley worked with me to create a menu that work for us and my family was thouroughly impressed. I love BBQ and hands down they have the best pulled pork I have ever had and the BBQ sauces are just as good, all the food was good. I highly recommend Smokin Joe's for your next event or if you just want to stop by and have a great lunch or dinner.

Best damn BBQ in Hampton Roads! Served up by Ashley (who is "Smokin'" as well!) and her crack team of cooks and servers, they can dish it up hot, pack it to go or bring it to you in a catering truck. I highly recommend the ribs-they are dry rubbed, smoked to perfection, juicy, fall off the bone delicious and they're all you can eat every Friday night!! The sides, especially the homemade potato salad, bring it all together. Balance everything out with a bowl of banana pudding for dessert and you'll go home happy! Voted Best BBQ, Best Ribs 2009 and Best Catering 2010 in Best Of Hampton Roads!

Best BBQ I have ever had! I have been going to Smokin Joe's for the past couple of years and have loved it each time. It's that kind of tucked away restaurant when you walk inside you know the food is gonna be good. I took a friend there who had always claimed to hate BBQ but even HE loved it. I would recommend this to anybody who wants some amazing BBQ in a nice small town atmosphere.
We are out of town and stopped to get something to eat on our way to the airport. We were so surprised how good the BBQ was that we took some to go on the airplane. We thought the people in VA didnt know what good BBQ was because a few days earlier we tried Pierces BBQ what a joke that place was. This place is not only good it is GREAT!! You will not be disappointed. It’s a hole in the wall type of place but let me tell you if and when we go back to VA we will look this place up again. Great service and food!
They catered my rehearsal dinner and they even decorated the tables. They went above and beyond my expectations. The bbq is delicious and the staff are always inviting.

We decided to try Smokin Joe’s BBQ after finding it in the AAA Tourbook. It was a good decision. The pulled pork and the spareribs were good; along with the redskin potato salad and collard greens. The service was friendly and fast. It’s a small roadside stop, nothing fancy or upscale but that doesn’t detract from the food or service.
